Week 2

This week I felt like I knew what I was doing.....kind of.

I am still trying to learn the names of our core kids and where they live. Apartment complex after apartment complex starts to run together and they all look the same (especially on Sunday mornings, doing wakeup while half asleep).

I wish I spoke Spanish.

I can't wait to be more familiar with the kids on my route, and feel an ownership to my streets (and remember my street names...haha).

Saturday:
  • Bus meeting @ 11am. Given details of what is expected of us on a weekly basis.
  • Went on outreach. Tried to get new contacts, followed up on our core.
Sunday:
  • Wake up kids at 8:30am.
  • Bus driver sick.
  • Carpool kids in.
  • Route 3 = 29 kids.

Week 1

I was extremely impressed by fellow route 3 workers. Their knowledge of the neighborhood, familiarity with the kids and the boldness they have in reaching out to new contacts. To think that most of them are under the age of 18, by the time they are an adult "outreach" will be a way of life.

Impressive.

Saturday:
  • Introduction to Bus Ministry meeting.
  • Notified of placements.
  • Went on Outreach.
Sunday:
  • Wake up kids at 8:30am.
  • Bus Driver sick.
  • Carpool kids in.
  • Route 3 = 24 kids.

Welcome

I am writing this blog for those that are curious about the life of a bus worker. If you are at all familiar with my life, then you know that JW (my hubby) heads the bus ministry at our church (a.k.a. The Blue Bomber). As in all things he does, he is extremely successful.

A few months ago, while praying about what ministries to commit to in 2010, I felt like I needed a change in my life. I was too comfortable where I was at and was not challenging myself to grow.

So, I signed up to be a part of The Blue Bomber. When I told my husband that I wanted to be involved, I requested to be put on a route.

...and here we are.

I have been assigned to Route 3.
Bus captain: Brandon Leonardo.

I will be blogging every week this year about The Blue Bomber, and specifically Route 3.
